The last Beers and a Book meeting at Michael’s was very nice–we BBQ’d and enjoyed a pleasant early summer backyard evening. Michael had some very tasty, hoppy homebrews on tap. Jaron brought a couple 2-liters of his Kolonel Klink Kolsch–also very tasty! Paul grilled up a bunch of scrumptious shrimp & pineapple skewers–awesome! We made a couple more bylaws too (oh god!).
An addendum to choosing a book and date for the next meeting is having a Captain of the Meeting (my choice–feel free to interject). Starting with the oldest member down to the youngest (Don being the first), the Captain will make 3 recommendations for a book (for everyone else to agree upon) and choose the next venue. This gives everyone a chance to host (or not) and choose some books they like.
Don offered up “Sometimes a Great Notion” by Ken Kesey (736 pages–one of his faves), “The Moviegoer” by Walker Percy, and a biological book about animals other than humans having ‘soul’ (conscience?) that I can’t remember. We decided on “The Moviegoer”, mainly because it had the least amount of pages but also because it got some big thumbs up. The venue is Don’s place at 1427 S 1400 E on Wednesday, June 24th (8pm I presume).
Cheers!

So, as a comment to my own post, I came across some nice links to share.
First, check out the US Pole Dance Federation site. Those ladies know how to work a pole! (Who knew they needed a federation?!)
Next, (and more becoming for our club) check out the Modern Drunkard Magazine Online site. Oh yeah, it’s good! Pretty funny guy. I think I might offer up his book for one of my choices when I’m Captain!
